All the items below are safe to place in your household waste collections:

  1. General household waste
  2. Paper, newspaper and cardboard
  3. Plastics – bottles, tubs, pots and trays
  4. Food waste
  5. Food and drink cartons – plastic lined
  6. Baby and adult diapers (please double bag before placing in your trash bag out of respect for your collection crew)

NO:

All the items below should not be placed in your household waste collections:

  1. Furniture and large bulky items – old mattresses, sofas, wardrobes, tables, etc.
  2. Electrical items – unwanted TVs, batteries, computers, cell phones, etc.
  3. Hazardous wastes – paint, chemicals, acids, cleaning products, etc.
  4. Clinical wastes – used needles and other associated medical wastes
  5. Vehicle batteries and oils
  6. Compact fluorescent lightbulbs and fluorescent tube lights
  7. Items containing mercury – thermometers, thermostats and switches
  8. Animal waste – cat and dog faeces, etc.

These items should be taken directly to the Tynes Bay Public Drop Off during opening hours: 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to noon on public holidays. Closed on Christmas Day.
