The Hon. Tinèe S. Furbert JP, MP Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors attended the 16 th Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin, Germany. The Special Olympics is the largest inclusive multi sports event worldwide, and an integral part of a global movement committed to drive equal participation in all parts of life for people with intellectual disabilities through the power of sports. The Bermuda delegation of 33 persons participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympic World Games. Nineteen athletes competed in various events crowning eleven gold, silver, and bronze medals for our Island of Bermuda. Minister Furbert also attended The Global Forum For Inclusion together with other selected government officials. This Global Forum – Partnering for Action was an interdisciplinary effort to discuss how to jointly implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
