The 50th Carifta Games 2023

Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the 50 th Carifta Games 2023 which took place in Nassau, Bahams from April 7 thru April 11th, 2023. As you may be aware, Bermuda is looking to stage sporting events in the fiscal year 2023-2024. Bahamas has been very successful in the area of “destination sport” and this will provide a great opportunity for exchange. This gathering presents an opportunity for the Ministers of Sports, senior government officials and technical officers in the regions to formulate beneficial connections with other island nations. Building partnerships with other small island states can provide unique training and competitive opportunities for our youth as it provides a platform for exchange of technical expertise, and with the growth of the Games in the 2000s, the opportunity to garner sponsorships by participating countries have grown significantly. Minister Darrell was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport, Marva-Jean O'Brien.
