Ministerial Meetings - Economic Substance

The Minister and a delegation of Ministry of Finance officials, accompanied the Premier to the United Kingdom, Brussels and Germany, for a series of meetings with overseas officials regarding the removal of Bermuda from the list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes. High level meetings were held with Mr. Robert Jenrick, MP, Exchequer Secretary to Her Majesty's Treasury, the Rt. Hon. Sir Nicholas Soames, MP., Sir Henry Bellingham, MP., House of Parliament, UK. In Brussels, meetings were held with Mr. Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs; Ambassador Luminita Odobescu, Permanent Representative of Romania to the European Union, and Mr. Christian Leffler, Deputy Secretary General of Global and Economic Issues, European External Action Services. In Germany, the Minister met with Dr. Rolf Bossinger, the German State Secretary for Finance at the Federal Ministry of Finance.
