Bermuda Weather Service Imagery to be Used by National Hurricane Center

The Director of the Bermuda Weather Service, Dr. Mark Guishard issued the following update: “The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) have advised that the online Doppler and instrumented weather information via the Bermuda Weather Service website is comprehensive enough that they are going to issue hourly position and intensity estimates using the imagery we provide - something they've not done before. This collaboration will not only give us critical real-time information, leveraging our technology and their hurricane expertise; it will also help develop valuable insights for the post-storm analysis. Of course, this is contingent on ongoing connectivity and uninterrupted communications between us.

“This first update at 1AM indicates that Hurricane Paulette is located at 31.4N 64.1W and has maximum sustained winds of 85 MPH (74 knots).”
