Condolences to the family of the late Rev. Dr. Erskine C. Simmons

Premier David Burt today expressed his condolences to the family of the late Rev. Dr. Erskine  C. Simmons, describing him as "..a tireless community servant...". Premier Burt said: "Dr. Simmons was a product of the AME Church in Bermuda whose life was dedicated to service. As a youth leader, church founder, educator and civic leader, every aspect of his life was committed to public service."  Most notably, Dr. Simmons was a member of the Progressive Group whose actions were among those that drove the fight for desegregation in Bermuda. "Dr. Simmons touched so many lives and his legacy is one of immense impact on every aspect of his community service. On behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda, I offer heartfelt condolences to his daughters, grandchildren and his entire family as they mourn the loss of this giant of a man."
