Bermuda, the most exhilarating time of the year is upon us – the annual Cup Match holiday weekend.

As we reflect on emancipation and the struggles and sacrifices of those that came before us, this is a time to celebrate our heritage, embrace our unity and of course, enjoy some fantastic cricket.

As we celebrate this incredible occasion, I want us to remember that safety should be our number one priority.

Let’s soak in the fun responsibly and ensure we return home safely to our loved ones.

So, while you relish the occasion in your Cup Match colours, let’s also traverse our roads with caution.

If you’ve had a little too much festive cheer, put those keys away and catch a ride with a friend or use a taxi – no exceptions.

We must be responsible to each other. Also, on a separate note, let’s all do our part to uphold our culture of friendliness and sociability and avoid conflict and violence at all costs.
