Minister Visits Smith’s Island Archaeology Site

Ongoing archaeological and historical research into Bermuda’s history on Smith's Island is being conducted Dr. Michael Jarvis and archaeology students from the University of Rochester in New York and Bermudian volunteers.

Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, Minister Ernest Peets, JP, recently visited the site on Smith's Island in St George's Harbour. Dr Jarvis has been conducting fieldwork at Smith's Island since 2010.

Smith's Island Archaeological Project (SIAP) partners with the Bermuda National Trust, St. George's Foundation, Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, and Bermuda Government to better understand Bermuda’s shared history within a global, Atlantic World context.
