Ministry of Public Works: Domestic Waste Update and Christmas Tree Collection

Good evening all,

The Ministry of Public works advises that there will be some minor delays in collecting domestic waste this week due to staff numbers impacted by the latest COVID outbreak.

Staff are being repositioned within the department to ensure that waste is collected on designated days. The public will see trucks collecting trash later than usual on those days to keep up with demand.

Residents are asked to ensure that their household waste is correctly bagged and placed in trash bins where possible to reduce access to rodents and pets.

Trash can be dropped off at the Tynes Bay Waste facility between 7 am and 7 pm each day.

The ministry can also advise that Christmas trees were collected over the last two Saturdays despite inclement weather.

Any trees that were not collected on those days will be collected along with household waste over the coming weeks.

Members of the public may also take old Christmas trees and other horticultural waste to the Marsh Folly composting facility, which is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday and from 7:30 am until noon on Saturday.
