Premier talks tax on BBC

The Hon. David Burt JP MP Premier and Minister of Finance was questioned about allegations that the island is a tax haven during a televised BBC programme today.

The Premier’s appearance on the BBC World News programme Talking Business with host Aaron Heslehurst was part of a round of media briefings at the end of a series of official meetings.

Over the last week, the Premier has completed meetings with European Union and OECD representatives in Brussels and Paris and also engaged with UK Ministers and other officials in London on matters of importance to Bermuda.

But during the television interview, the Premier made it clear that Bermuda complies with global standards in matters of tax transparency, international cooperation and accreditation.
