Public Advised of Availability of Feral Chicken Traps

Following the recent announcement by the Minister of Public Works and Environment, the Hon Jaché Adams, JP, MP, regarding the range of feral chicken control measures being implemented, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources advises that feral chicken traps are now available for purchase.

The traps may be purchased for $100 each at the Agriculture Service Centre, located at 38 Schools Drive, Devonshire. The facility is accessible via Frog Lane and Old Military Road.

Only one trap is permitted per residential property.

Important written guidance on deploying the trap will be provided to purchasers (receipt to be acknowledged), including:

• The appropriate locations and methods for operating the trap
• Required frequency for checking a baited trap
• The procedures for reporting trapped birds

Members of the public are encouraged to report sightings of feral chickens and to access information on feral chicken control measures via /feralchickens

These online resources include guidance on submitting requests for feral chicken assistance, the Feral Chicken Management Plan, and access to the Feral Bird Management Dashboard, which displays the locations and timelines of current control activities across the Island.
