Virtual Forum on Draft Landlord and Tenant Bill

The Ministry of Home Affairs will host a virtual forum on Wednesday, October 29, at 6.30 PM to invite public feedback on the Draft Landlord and Tenant Bill 2025.

This forum is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to make Bermuda more affordable and sustainable for all.

The consultation is a key milestone of the Affordable Bermuda Agenda, the roadmap recently announced by the Ministry to address the cost of living.  Landlord and Tenant Act reform seeks to advance a framework that introduces standardized leases, security deposit reform, clearer rights, and faster dispute resolution.

The Draft Bill proposes to repeal and replace the Landlord and Tenant Act 1974 and Rent Increases (Domestic Premises) Control Act 1978, with a single, modern framework designed to govern the landlord and tenant relationship.

To access the Virtual Draft Landlord Tenant Bill consultative forum and to ask questions, please use the link Virtual Draft Landlord Tenant Bill Consultative Meeting on the day of the forum.

The meeting will also be live streamed on the Government’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and CITV.

This is an opportunity for residents, landlords, tenants, and industry professionals to have their say on legislation that directly impacts our quality of life.

Following the consultation, all feedback will be reviewed, and final legislative recommendations will be presented to policymakers, with ongoing engagement to ensure the reforms reflect the needs and aspirations of all Bermudians.
