Parks Special Permit

Planning to host an event, light a bonfire, or fly a drone in Bermuda's national parks? The Department of Parks manages the Special Permit process to support organised activities while safeguarding park facilities.

The Special Permit online application can be used to apply for special (smaller) events, drone use, bonfires, and metal detecting in public parks.

Applicants without computer access, or who prefer to apply in person, may obtain and submit hardcopy applications at the Department of Parks office on the ground floor of Global House, 43 Church Street, Hamilton.

All applications are reviewed based on the nature, scale, and location of the proposed activity. Each event is individually assessed. All fees must be paid at the time of booking. Any additional fees incurred will be invoiced.

Select the activity below that best describes your planned event for full guidance, timing requirements, and application links.

Larger Events

Events of 50 or more people, or where tickets, food, alcohol, live music, or DJs are involved. Applications must be submitted at least four months in advance and cannot be submitted online - hardcopy or email only.

Special (Smaller) Events

Organised gatherings that don't meet the criteria of a larger event but still require oversight. Applications must be submitted at least five working days in advance and can be made online or in person.

Events at the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens

Events at the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens require additional consideration due to the sensitivity of the space. A separate application form applies. Applications must be submitted at least 14 days in advance.

Bonfires

All bonfires in national parks require a Special Permit. Bonfires are treated as small events and must be submitted at least five working days in advance. A Bonfire Policy form is available to download.

Small Unmanned Aircraft (Drone Use)

Anyone wishing to fly a small unmanned aircraft (SUA) in any national park must obtain a permit from the Department of Parks. Contact the Department directly at (441) 236-5902 or parksdept@gov.bm.

Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach is managed by BLMC, not the Department of Parks. For all permits and questions regarding Clearwater Beach, contact BLMC at (441) 278-2073, email info@blmc.bm, or visit dockyard.bm/blmc.
